I had dinner with my friends at Sugbufe for our Christmas party, but it was a disappointing experience. Some of us arrived late at 8 PM, with the restaurant closing at 10 PM, so I expected there would still be plenty of food available. Unfortunately, the only dish that was still fully stocked was the soup. Most of the other dishes were empty, and the lechon had already been stripped down to almost nothing, leaving too few options for our group. I assumed that, since it was a buffet, they would replenish the dishes when they ran out, but that was not the case; it felt like they were not expecting further demand from customers. The only standout dish was the shrimp, and there were no desserts displayed. I had to ask the staff about the desserts, and it took some effort to get their attention for refills, as they seemed a bit disorganized. My friends who arrived earlier at 7 PM said not much had changed by the time I got there, which was quite disappointing. I was really frustrated with the limited food selection, especially since this dinner was meant to be special for us. Additionally, there were no juices available; just water with lemon, which was underwhelming. I found it hard to decide what to eat because so many options were missing, especially so close to closing time. The ambiance was just okay, and the washing area left something to be desired in cleanliness. I had higher expectations for this place based on recommendations from colleagues, and I left feeling dissatisfied. I want to give two stars to one of the staff members who did a great job taking our pictures, but overall, the pricing didn't match our experience—it felt deceiving.
I visited Sugbufe because it’s listed among the top buffets in Cebu, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. The flavors of what I tried were mediocre at best. I ended up eating chicken skin without realizing what it was until we asked a staff member. There were no labels on the food, so identifying dishes became a guessing game. Additionally, there was no seafood available. Overall, I wouldn’t consider it worth the visit. If you're searching for a buffet in Cebu, I can't really recommend this one.
Filipino cuisine is so delicious that you'll find yourself wanting to return for more. During my visit last night with family, we enjoyed a wide range of dishes including crispy pork, fried chicken, chop suey, pancit bihon, beef caldereta, crab, and spicy shrimp. Their lechon, in particular, is a standout signature dish—perfectly crispy, nicely salted, and incredibly juicy! I will definitely be coming back. For those who complain about waiting for refills, keep in mind that they are mindful of the number of guests being served. The freshness of the food speaks for itself!
