I'm happy to see the old restaurant again. The food was enjoyable, and the service was good, although our waitress wasn’t exceptional. However, we spoke with another staff member who was very informative about our experience and mentioned that we wouldn't be able to access certain areas this Thursday, August 9th. We had made a reservation for Saturday with friends to dine. View all feedback.

Unfortunately, we chose to dine here during Pride. The food and menu were disappointing, and based on our recent experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. View all feedback.
Glad to see velvet back to it's old self. Food was lovely, service was good but not great from the waitress we had. After speaking to another lady who worked there she informed us velvet would be back to being velvet nd not the chop house from this Thursday 9th August. We have booked for meal on Saturday with friends
Food and service were great but I’m not sure the location is right for this type of restaurant. We ate early evening/late afternoon and the restaurant was empty when we walked in. The place was well laid out but just lacked atmosphere. Maybe we were unlucky but when we left at 7pm there were only a few more diners. We had Pea and Ham soup and Scotch Egg for starters. Steak and Chicken and leek pie for mains. And a cherry and ice cream dessert. The dessert was the only let down. The rest was superb. The soup was probably one of the best I ever tasted. Well done chef.
Very happy with the meal. We were a group of 9 and were given a very sociable table.
We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to this restaurant, we went on early doors which we found excellent value for money. Service and quality of food was superb, we will definitely visit again when in Manchester.
Excellent value for a 3 course dinner , I was expecting a high standard of food with the restaurant being owned by Mr White so was a bit surprised by a couple of things that let it down. The starters were ok but nothing outstanding, my duck pate didnt have that much flavour and I found the presentation a bit strange with a few cornichons just sat on the plate. My husbands Sardines on toast was also lacking in some flavour and the prawn cocktail looked really average. We ordered roast beef and fish and chips. The fish and chips was the best meal with tripple cooked chips, the fish just melted in the mouth and the batter was lovely. The roast beef although not pink was very tender. The main thing to let this meal down was the roast potatoes. They were soggy in the middle , didnt taste very nice and I am sure they were frozen. All of us left them. I did mention it to the waiter when he asked if everything was ok and he said he would mention it to the chef but that was it. My husband ordered the roast chicken and it was a massive portion and really tender. The pudding was the best part of the meal for me, Bakewell tart with clotted cream, it was gorgeous. We also ordered sticky toffee pudding which was also very good. Overall if you are looking for a Sunday dinner at a very good price in a nice restaurant I would recommend but just stay clear of the roast potatoes they certainly wouldnt get through the Master chef rounds.
