I saw these folks in Spruce street farmers market. I went for a cauliflower empanada and eggplant empanada. Ackee was over before I went. Both were good, but cauliflower one was better. Everything is a bit more expensive than I expected. View all feedback.
Come on the amazing journey And learn all you should know (The Who) When I was checking out the vendor list in preparation for a visit to the amazing Coventry Farmers Market, and saw there would be a Jamaican food presence there, I pretty much decided right then and there to be sure I found my way to the Amazing Ackee stand. Because I 'm a Spice Guy, I asked the smiling salesperson which one of her frozen patties was spicier the Eggplant or the Lentil. She definitively said the Eggplant, so that 's what I popped in my cooler bag to take home. And today, I warmed it up in the toaster over and gave it a try. And I loved it! Super flaky crust? check? Flavorful eggplant filling? Check A high score on the old peppery zip meter? Double Check! Amazing indeed!!
Where do I begin?! These patties are all you need in life!! The absolute best flavors, flaky patties, and made by one of the coolest women. These are literally my dream food, whenever I see Amazing Ackee at events, I have to buy a few patties. She now has a physical location so go check it out and get yourself some patties, they will literally change your life for the better! ?
The ladies there were so kind and informative! I’ve tried the ackee patty, broccoli patty, chickpea patty, and spinach patty, as well as one of their cookies. These patties are so delicious! Definitely grab some of their food if you find them at a pop up event. ? I bought mine frozen, so I could eat them whenever I’d like.
Always delicious! Never disappointed when I have an Amazing Ackee Patty on my plate. If I could eat one every day, I would.
I first fell in love with Amazing Ackee vegan patties at the Ellington Farmer’s Market. Curried Chickpea Zucchini...Oh My! Cauli...Jerk Spiced Eggplant...everything was truly amazing. The patty crusts are flaky and would even be fantastic on their own, but then they’re each filled with Chantal’s awe-inspiring blending of spices, veggies (tho Ackee is a fruit, which I didn’t know), legumes, and, well, check out the website for lists of goodness that make up each creation. It reads like a dream, and lives up to it in person. Mmmmm.Speaking of “in person,” right now it’s a curbside pickup. Perfect for me, isolated with immune system issues. Chantal refreshes on her website what’s in stock or being currently made on Tuesday nights at 9pm. Get your orders in! You can order and get a pickup slot for Thursday through Saturday 1-4:30pm. You can order frozen items to eat later or piping hot and ready-to-eat (um, in the car because you just can’t help yourself? or is that just me?)I also tried out 2 different dessert items: a sorrel bar, which is sweet and has a citrusy tang, and mini-coconut tarts, which have just a hint of sweetness that pairs nicely with the coconut. Both are fantastic. I’m trying the cocobread next!Chantal and her husband are the very nicest people, and they’ve got a good thing going in that kitchen! And the world is a nicer place with them their business in it.
