I had a delicious dinner at Sunrise Restaurant. After talking to Selva, the chef, I ordered a whole fish cooked with tava (Indian sources) and butter rice. The fish was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was spot on, the rice tender and delicious. Great spot to have dinner outside (5 minutes walk) of the main street of Mamallapuram! View all feedback.
What Riddhi Mahadeo doesn't like about SUNRISE RESTAURANT & GUEST HOUSE:
Went there for lunch. I was the only customer. I ordered grilled fish and soda water. First came lemon soda and then a very small fish for 300 Rs with a small portion of fries. I was still hungry at the end. I sat at...the rooftop corner to enjoy the views and the waiter came and started to chat. The food was delicious and the fast delivery was neat and clean especially thava chicken and thava seafood.
I recently enjoyed a wonderful meal at Sunrise restaurant. I had a conversation with Selva, the chef, and decided to order the whole fish cooked with Tava (Indian spices) and butter rice. The fish was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of spices, and the rice was deliciously tender. This restaurant is a fantastic option for dining just a short 5-minute walk away from the main road in Mamallapuram. Highly recommended!
We were unable to submit this restaurant review during our trip to India due to poor internet access. However, I am editing and uploading it now on 8/2/17. We were three British gentlemen in search of a late lunch, as we had skipped breakfast due to the lazy morning in our beachfront guesthouse rooms. We decided to try a rooftop restaurant we had seen many times while avoiding the pushy shop owners on the main street. The restaurant had decent reviews on TripAdvisor, so we gave it a try. We arrived at 1:45 pm on a Monday and were greeted by a group of young Indian professionals enjoying their meal. We sat at a table overlooking the local landscape, with cows, pigs, goats, and dogs roaming freely. The view of the sea and the breeze were refreshing. The menu was reasonably priced compared to other places in the area. After ordering coffee and masala tea, we decided to try traditional dishes like fried rice, veal, malai kofta, and biryani. We also ordered a Carlsberg beer. The wait for our food was a bit long, but when it arrived, it was delicious and well-portioned. The chef even came out to ask how our meal was and stayed to chat with us. Overall, we were pleased with the food and service, despite a few hiccups. We hope the management takes note of the feedback provided and addresses any issues for future customers.
The food quality is excellent. I had lunch here twice during my visit and the staff were very courteous and provided great service.

There are numerous better places in town, especially near the bank.
