Nice coffee spot between downtown and SLU in Seattle with a variety of drinks and baked goods. I got their London fog, matcha latte, and butterfly latte, which were all delicious! Matcha latte is unsweetened so you need to ask them to add a syrup in. Otherwise you can add sugar yourself after you get the drink. View all feedback.
What Michael Schuett doesn't like about Grumpy Bean:
Barista was very rude. I asked about milk alternatives and she just shook her head and didn’t answer me. Also had to get her attention to take my order in an empty shop. Would not go back View all feedback.
Do you like the peach cobbler chai tea? Barista man: We make all of our drinks here so obviously yea its good What a weird way to respond instead of being nice you opted into sarcasm I had never been here before and didnt know. Making someone feel bad for asking is unnecessary.
Finding good espresso in the USA can be difficult. The baristas here nailed it, every time. Only four blocks from our hotel, Grumpy Bean was a daily must visit for our 8 day stay.
I was looking for a place to get my matcha latte. I am a little bit picky and the Grumpy Bean checked all the boxes: 1. They use pure matcha powder, not a sweetened mix. 2. Soy milk available. 3. They don’t use a bamboo whisk to stir the matcha. I know this is all the rage but those bamboo whisks get very moldy very quickly and are not necessary. 4. It was delicious I’ll be back next time I’m in Seattle!
Great place for a morning cup of whatever you need.
The bearded male barista was extremely rude. Since it was my first time, I didn’t know the menu, so when I asked about it, he answered with just the name of the drink, looking like he was really annoyed and didn’t give me any proper response. He wasn’t managing the ingredients properly. He was all smiles and friendly with regulars, but it felt like he was looking down on me because I’m Asian. He was also gossiping and cussing, so I wouldn’t recommend this place to people with kids. I will never come back again either.
