Contribute FeedbackSince my last review, there has been a change in ownership at Lane Café. Unfortunately for us regulars, the creative force behind all the delicious food is no longer involved. The recent experience I had was quite shocking, as I was served a plate of poorly prepared food that seemed to be thrown together carelessly. Not only was the meal cold, but the service was even colder. When I mentioned my concerns to the elderly woman who owns the café now, her response was dismissive—she simply said, “This is how we do things now, and if you don’t like it, don’t come back!” She offered no replacement for my meal, no refund, and no apology. Well, guess what? I won’t be returning, and neither will my colleagues, friends, or family! Please remove this café from your list. It’s a shame that the talented, quality-focused owner is no longer here. If this is the treatment I can expect, I completely understand why she decided to leave.
I’ve dined there four times—twice for lunch and twice for breakfast. I want to be the first to tell everyone that you haven't truly experienced an omelet until you've had Linda's amazing creations. The presentation is impeccable, and the taste is divine. It comes with toast and is expertly made in-house, exactly to my liking. For my second breakfast, I opted for breakfast sandwiches and coffee, and once again, I left this charming little spot with a beaming smile. The egg and cheese sandwich on a soft, grilled hard roll was the best I’ve ever had—and I've tasted many over the years. The specialty coffee from Memory Lane was rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced—not too strong, but just right. After indulging in breakfast, I couldn't resist introducing my colleagues, friends, and family to their lunch offerings. I may have even taken a little time off work to enjoy it—hopefully my boss doesn’t read this! The specialty sandwiches at Memory Lane are incredible. I’ve tried two so far: the Malibu, which features sliced bratwurst, Russian dressing, Swiss cheese, speck, and homemade coleslaw on multi-grain bread. This fantastic sandwich came with the best potato salad I’ve had since my mother passed away. On my second visit, which I ordered for the office, I tried the Corvette—a delightful mix of roast beef, speck, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a creamy horseradish sauce that had just the right amount of kick to complement the sandwich. Choosing between the house-made potato chips and macaroni salad was tough, but I went with the unique and flavorful chips crafted right in the Memory Lane kitchen. The restaurant exudes nostalgia, decorated with large posters of antique and classic cars and models adorning every available surface. The coffee station is set up with a Sears workbench, reminiscent of an auto shop—a wonderfully creative touch that fits the theme perfectly. The restaurant is run by two partners: Linda, the creative mastermind in the kitchen, and another wonderful lady I had the pleasure of chatting with. Together, they seem to have discovered the perfect recipe for success. My advice to everyone is to visit this gem now before everyone else discovers it, or you may find it difficult to get a table! As Arnold Schwarzenegger famously said in the Terminator movie: “I’ll be back!”
