The Lion At Malpas

Had a Sunday roast 22 October 2023 with my wife. I don’t normally post bad reviews but I was not happy We ordered two roast beef dinners, lamb not available although guaranteed up till 6) the veg and potatoes were great however the beef was sloppy and I suspect it was boil in the bag. When the meal was delivered to the table I asked the young man if we could have some extra gravy. After 5 minutes nothing happened, so I went to the bar and queued up for a few minutes while my dinner was going cold and asked again for some extra gravy and I also ordered a bottle of wine. The young barman ignored my request and decided to serve some other customers Eventually the wine appeared however we never got the extra gravy and I am still waiting. It seems once your meal has been delivered, they are not interested I think that the staff could do with some training and make it clear the Sunday roast is boil in the bag and not carvery. It was also full of gristle.We spent about £70 for the the meal with drinks so really I would expect a bit better service We took most of the meat home for the dogs.

The only problem we had was the seating for our party was very uncomfortable Service: 3 Location: 4

We didn 't stay in the hotel but we stopped by for a evening meal in September '23 The food was very good indeed. We had a nice meal and the taste was amazing, well above the average pub restaurant food but the staff really made the difference, Everyone was so friendly and helpful and couldn 't have been better. Also in the bar area you can bring your well behaved Lovely place to eat. Service: 5
