The room was small and comfortable with a shower and the toilet outside the door. The food was delicious and more than I could eat. I slept very well and in the morning had another good meal before leaving to go back two where I left off on my bicycle journey . Thank you Angelique you are angel to me.
I had walked the 12 kilometers from the trian station at Boigneville to Malesherbes and arrived for lunch at the Hotel Restaurant de la Gare [see photograph], conveniently located just across the street from the train station. After quaffing a refreshing Grimbergen draft ale at the bar--there is nothing that slakes the thirst after a long walk like a frosty glass of ale--I was seated at a table in the outdoor patio. I ordered the three-course prix-fixe lunch priced at 14.30 Euros. For starters, a large selection of hors d’œuvres was available from a buffet. Since I expected the main course to be copious, I limited my selection to a hard-boiled egg, some diced beets and a couple of slices of saucisson à l 'ail. The main course was a thick and juicy faux-filet of beef accompanied by a generous portion of delicious, home-made fries [see photograph]. Although many items on the dessert menu were tempting, I settled for three large scoops of fruit sherbets. What was surprising was that when the waitress served the main course, she plonked down on the table a full liter bottle of red wine. I asked her if I would pay for the number of glasses I had consumed, but she replied the entire bottle was included in the price of the meal! Reading the label, I learned that the wine was described as Vin de la Communauté Européenne. According to the Wikipedia, There are 21 wine producing countries in the European Union, with 14 of them having significant levels of production. So it was anybody 's guess in what country or countries the wine had actually originated. Nevertheless, it tasted surprisingly good. The total for the meal, including the wine, coffee and the Grimbergen, amounted to a very reasonable 17.30 Euros. Obviously, Hotel Restaurant de la Gare is highly recommended.
Correct without more. Avoid the terrace that directly overlooks the RER D
