This restaurant was very average. How can they make a Kobe Beef burger below average? I requested it to be cooked medium rare, leaning towards rare, but it came out medium to well done. The salad bar was decent and the wine selection was better than most restaurants in Maui, but overall it was just satisfactory. View all feedback.
Has space for improvements. A better menu for starters.
Personally I'd say this place is better than Mamas fish house, the service was good and the quality of food was perfect.
Was bummed to see the new owners got rid of salad bar
Although it appears to be a steakhouse, it is kind of a joke. A friend of mine whose birthday it was we went there and he ordered surf and turf. We should know never to order surf on Maui because the lobster was horribly horribly dry and very very small. Needless to say the birthday boy was not impressed at all. there was eight of us so we spent a considerable amount on dinner and there was not one of us that enjoyed our dinner. I know they've been changing ownerships, chefs, wait staff, however if you want to be a steakhouse learn how to be a steakhouse and how to cook a steak that comes from a steakhouse. Also learn to cook a lobster that does not come out so dry you have to pull it apart to eat it. So sorry to say this is my second horrible experience with makawao steak House and I probably will not be returning anytime soon.
The salad was good but the bone in pork chop special and the seafood pasta were both lackluster. The strawberry daiquiri was just ordinary and at $12 I expected a lot more. This is not the steakhouse quality we recall from previous visits. Not sure what happened but our favorite part of the meal the salad bar is also gone as of two months ago. Overall, a disappointing dining experience at a place we used to love. This is off our list of Maui restaurant visits.
