What falafffel dislikes about Thai Express:
As a vegan you have the choice of only 4 separate dishes from a vegan menu (even vegetable curries contain fish sauce or shrimp paste) and the curries are not very flavourful. Large prices for large portions, so maybe worth it when you share a dish. Better places for vegan-friendly Thai food are very close and almost any Thai restaurant (even the ones which do not mark vegan items) will be more helpful to provide you... View all feedback.
They have a range of vegan options and the dishes are huge so the prices are definitely alright. Went there several times, had curries and steamed buns. The Wiesbaden location has a nicer atmosphere though. We got crab chips with our vegan order once which was weird and unnecessary.
I don’t really understand the first review for “Thai Express”, giving them only one star. Sure, I have also had better Thai food elsewhere in my life (but not in Mainz… , and it is not the cosiest of places. In my opinion this is a decent fast food place with tasty food, large portions, fair prices. I have been there several times during the last months, and they always had a small vegan menu and 5 other vegan specials that you can see on the blackboard above the counter (I have uploaded photos of these . They prepare the meals freshly in a wok after you have ordered, so if you want to have something that’s not on the vegan menu, I suggest that you ask them to replace the fish sauce with soy sauce. Thai cuisine relies a lot on ready-made sauces and usually they use fish sauce for almost everything. That’s also a reason why I like Thai Express – they are aware that this is not suitable for vegetarians and vegans, where in other places they’ll use it and tell you that it is vegetarian or vegan anyway… Avoid their homemade lemonades, though – they are much too sweet and not fresh.

The drink was extremely good (lemon mint). The food was so so and they do not provide service at the table..
