Located in the old part of Mainz city, it seemed like a family business to me, excellent quality of fresh seafood at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed the fish soup and the the octopus dish. The staff made feel at ease as a non...German language speaker by trying to communicate in basic English which was very helpful. View all feedback.

matjes with kartoffels were ordered.The kartoffels were muddyly watery tasteless. salatsoße tasted mostly after maggi. the housewives soned to the matjes, who was very good, was with a lot of eyes and little content halfway tasty. 40 euro for 2 people for middays is also not currently cheap. for that we sat outside and there it's just too loud. Dropped in without planning ahead and were lucky to get a table for lunch within minutes. It was Friday so a fish kind of day (Mainz is a mostly catholic city), and it was clear that this was a popular spot, mostly with locals....Both our fish dishes were delicious. Prices were ok, but not cheap. Service was friendly and mostly unflappable despite the very busy day and additional hassles that bring. If you found my review helpful I would appreciate your vote.
We came here after having noticed it on a previous visit on a Sunday when they are closed and vowed to come back. The decor is old fashioned but the food is excellent as it adjoins a fish shop. The portions are generous and prices...very civil. We also found the service friendly and fast. We were glad we had reserved as it was full both evenings which says it all !
On a beautiful afternoon on Market Day in Mainz, you can find the locals gathering to have the fish special posted outside the restaurant. We couldn’t resist and tried to too. Delicious and fun to sit with such friendly people enjoying their time together.
Really enjoyed the trout and new potatoes quickly and perfectly cooked. Friends had Cod and chips and Salmon and potato salad. All great. Casual seating and great value for money. Teriffic range of fish and salads to take away.
