We wanted to grab a late lunch during a short break in Madrid. This was one of many tapas restaurants on this street and was super close to where we stayed. It was, like all of them busy. It was, however, one of few that were open lunch times on a Monday on February so we thought we would give it a go and glad we did! The place was buzzing and in the 90 mins that we were there, people kept coming and going and some had to be turned away as it was that busy (despite them working hard to accommodate everybody). Really good lunch Patatas Bravas which were really crispy and a big portion in a style different to most. I liked that they gave you the two sauces to add to taste. They were also piping hot. Also had the five different types of tomatoes which was lovely and refreshing and the apple chutney with them was excellent! Then the meat and cheese platter which was a lovely selection. Couple of glasses if Ribera Del Duero too made it the perfect lunch. The time flew!
What brought my wife and I to del Dragon was a vlog I saw on the net before coming. It raved about their tomato salad so of course peer pressure led us there. The restaurant itself is very cute with the option of eating outside which was tres cozy. The much lauded tomate salad was an amalgam of at least four different tomato varieties presented Picaso like on a plate. Another much loved dish were the croquettes. They come four to a serving and were as large as VW Beetles and superb. Wine was cheap so drink as much as you can then walk around La Latina for more wine of course.
