Surya Cafe - Madison

They were very busy, there was an art fair nearby as well as the usual farmer's market. We waited 45 minutes for our food. I had to wait an additional 10 to get a fork to so I could eat my salad. The food tasted good, but for the price and the wait, I'd find somewhere else.

Great atmosphere, amazing food, and endless coffee I want to live here. Staff was very helpful and friendly as well!

Food and drink were great. But waited in long line with only one person working the counter. She seemed very overwhelmed and confused. This was their busiest day open, they should’ve known to have more support. Drink was sitting at the front counter and they never called my name or brought to my number. And then my food was taking forever so I finally went up to her and she said my food had been forgotten and had been sitting there for a while. She did finally get me a free juice which was very sweet. I feel bad for her, there should’ve been more support or management there today.

Excellent addition to Madison’s culinary scene. The food and the great menu is both exciting and exceeded my low expectations (not a lot of good vegan restos around this town). Everything we ate and drank was fresh, and very tasty. Menu is reasonably priced. The golden milk is incredible because it’s nice and thick; I could drink it everyday. The cafe interior is lovely despite being set at an awkward location of the building. Tastefully decorated; the metal chairs are noisy but other than that it’s lovely. There is easy parking outside the Garver building. Highly encourage giving this a try! Enjoy!

If you are looking for a warm and inviting cafe with amazing, healthy, and unique food, Surya is your place. I always walk away wondering why I don’t try to cook more like that at home. As someone who is dairy free, I love all the options. One of my top recommendations to out of towners and friends who want to meet to connect and break bread together!
