Never order burgers or salad from this place! I ordered two bacon cheeseburgers, two poutines, and a Caesar salad. I was told it would be ready in 30 minutes, but it took over an hour for...
This restaurant is conveniently located near the Alexander Mackenzie hotel and mall. The decor is outdated and worn. We dined here for both lunch and dinner multiple times, and there was a generous amount of food available, particularly for takeout. Breakfast was included as part of our hotel stay, but we were not impressed. The breakfast options were limited to basic Continental style fare, with stale muffins and only one type of cereal available. The juice and milk were not chilled, so they were served at room temperature. While not our top pick, the limited breakfast options in Mackenzie leave few alternatives.
The waiter at this restaurant was extremely rude, seating us abruptly and then accidentally spilling a full glass of ice cold water all over my 13-year-old daughter. The chicken I ordered was undercooked, and my daughter's pre-made patty was also undercooked. Despite the mistake, the server showed no remorse and simply said "meh, it happens" with a shrug. There was no offer of a towel or assistance with my daughter's wet clothing. The restaurant's decor was also underwhelming, with Christmas lights and decorations still up in July. This, combined with the undercooked food and lack of cleanliness in the dining room, makes me question the hygiene standards of the kitchen. Overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth a return visit.
The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant has two menus: a western and a Chinese. I ordered from the Chinese menu and was very happy with my choice. Large portions and good quality.
We went in as a large group, family birthday supper. The Chinese smorgasbord was fresh with all the favorite dishes, lots of meaty choices, even a non-Chinese beef roast. The beef roast was delicious, makes me want to try the prime rib supper. While this is not gourmet oriental food, it is tasty and well worth the visit. As we had small grand kids with us we even got the benefit of the owners 3 year old at our table. Possibly only in Mackenzie. Family dining indeed. One question, LVS? I can't imagine the meaning or reference for a restaurant, perhaps a license plate for Mr. Presley?
