We tried this based on a recommendation from a local. It was great! Lots of local people were dining there. Best Espetada (beef skewers) we've had so far. Nice views. Very cheap. View all feedback.
What camufix doesn't like about José I Franco Carvalho:
We entered late and maybe that was the problem. People were nice enough, but you could tell that they had enough for the day (normal). Ok food, didn 't hurt anyone, but there was normal food, nothing special about it, when I compare with all the meals I had in Madeira this was the worst , it wasn 't bad... but it lack some effort. This restaurant is mainly recommended for fish and the 3 of us who had fish were well satisfied, but my daughter who ordered Ribs should have ent them back as they were without much meat on them. The place was full, mainly with locals which is usually a good sign. I doubt whether I will return.
Had a long lunch today with my family, I had fresh tuna my family had other meals I loved it my family too , place was full , looked like locals great service huge portions brilliant service , will be back .
Eating was very disappointing. huge portions, but no love and no quality. the garlic bread was the most sad thing we had on the island. the meat was overcooked. the fish came in, no sauce, no lemon, nothing. much too expensive for what it is. the service was good. and beautiful view.
Great view, friendly waitress, fast service and delicious fresh fish for a really good price. Highly recommended!
