I was really excited to eat at Salt Bar. I’m a big fan of Scandi Food. Unfortunately I left disappointed. I don’t have any real complaints about the food but can’t say I was wowed, I'm didn’t meet my expectations. But is suppose that’s on me really. Service was slow, this is due to staff training I believe. We had a lad who took our orders multiple times, and seemed cause some confusion in the kitchen. That said, the more experienced caught it before it became a real problem and our order came out correct. I never have an issue with training, everyone has to start somewhere. My BIGGEST issue however was RIGHT AFTER ordering dessert a waitress informed us we had to be gone in 10 minutes. Which made the whole table feel immediately uncomfortable. Most of us couldn’t even remember dessert because we suddenly felt so unwelcome That we scoffed it down as quick as possible. The next table also came in early which made things worse. Ironically it took them almost 5 minutes to give us the bill. I feel that request would have been reasonable had WE been particularly slow on ordering, or eating. But the truth is it was the service that slowed everything down. It felt like we where being penalised suddenly for a mistake that wasn’t our own. I feel it is completely unacceptable to shift the consequences of your own mismanagement on to your customers. Honestly it ruined what was otherwise an enjoyable dinner amongst friends.
Lovley place in the heart of Macclesfield. Very refreshing to have good service and good either a tasteful Scandinavian touch
Can’t believe it took us so long to visit this diamond of a restaurant. The menu may be smaller but the flavours are mighty with enough selection to please every palate. We started with Prawn Skagen and the specials Cauli Filo rolls which were both very tasty, I could’ve just eaten a plate of the Cauli rolls! We then had the specials feta strawberry salad and the spring cabbage leaves. The salad was so light and fresh with delicious strawberries, green beans and feta, very summery. The cabbage leaves filled with quinoa, peas, miso garlic mushrooms on a broad bean mash with maple and soy was just superb. We shared every course and took a rhubarb streusel home for our daughter as it was GF. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Macclesfield. Thank you Jo for a wonderful meal, we will be back!
Love it here. The meatballs are delicious and the chickpea balls are even better. The apple pie is amazing and, to top it off, the coffee is very...
