What PJ C doesn't like about Basilica:
This place has a great view of the cathedral from its outdoor seating and on this hot evening it was the place to dine. Unfortunately the service was inattentive and indifferent. The staff disappeared for long stretches and when they did circulate they avoided eye contact. We asked for a couple items that were never delivered. The food itself was a mixed bag. 3.5 stars Good food with decent service and prices. I came to Basilica for lunch, so I just had a salad and didn't get to try any of their real main dishes. Their salad selection was pretty good and my goat cheese salad was flavorful. Their patio is huge and was perfect on a day with really nice weather. It took quite a while to get our server's attention, but when we did, he was very nice, and the food came out quickly. Overall it was a good experience, and I'd definitely try Basilica again.
Really excellent spot! We ordered a few dishes to start with and then had to cancel a couple because we were so surprised at the huge portions, including most notably the smoked fish salad which came with what you'd expect on TEN smoked fish salads in the US. Very good service, pretty good beer selection. Worth trying in Maastricht!
Heerlijk genoten van een uitstekend 4-gangenmenu voorafgaand aan het André Rieu concert. Wat een geoliede machine is het personeel! Petje af!
