It is a all-you-can-eat buffet and the boiling pot... read more After staying in Europe for 12 days, I need a break for Mediterranean cuisine and so I chose Chinese hotpot. It is a all-you-can-eat buffet and the boiling pot is fuelled by a candle (so it takes a bit of time to heat up). That’s why they have also prepared some appetisers like fried spring rolls, salads, melons, lychees, and cold seafood platters. So far, they taste nice. They have 3 types of soup for the hotpot: clear soup, tomato and spicy. I chose tomato soup base (I thought tomato is common in France and expect the soup is full of …. To my surprise, only a small piece of tomato is found) anyway, i just want some vegetables today with beef and they are of acceptable quality. However, it is **** hot in June and they have only 2 air conditioners in the restaurant and the cooling fan is at the food corner. I feel like I made a bad decision to do hotpot and luckily, I bring my own paper fan and I can cool down myself slightly… while the couple next to me, they are sweating all the way … It is a nice idea to do hotpot during summer if the shop offers good air conditioning. Hope they can get a movable cooling fan (quite common in China) in the restaurant or else, I feel like it was a torture last night despite the food quality is good.

Beside the large choice of fresh ingredients, the flavorful dipping sauces and well seasoned broth, we really appreciated the friendliness of the waiters. Cherry on the cake: At our table we had 6 different nationalities and the waiters were surprisingly able to speak (at least a bit) of all these 6 languages (French, Chinese, German, Spanish, English and Japanese).

We also asked where the metro was, and he walked us outside to show us exactly where to go. Now that’s generous and wonderful in and of itself, but tack that on to the fact that the food is DELICIOUS everything from the sushi, gyoza, dumplings, cucumber kimchi and fried chicken appetizers; homemade noodles, a wonderful fresh selection of vegetables and delicious sauces; the variety of bite sized desserts; homemade lychee cocktails and wide drink selection it made for a 10/10 experience. The service was phenomenal and we ate like kings (pigs really, if I’m being honest). We definitely overdid it the first time, but we don’t regret it and know for next time. Will be returning, hopefully at least monthly. Worth the price, the trip and the long walk in the cold to get there.

She discovered this plays some time ago and got me... read more My wife is from Hong Kong and Hot Pot is an important thing for her especially when it gets cold around here. She discovered this plays some time ago and got me to tag along. I love Hot Pot too but once every couple of months is ok. Well, this has changed, it has become a regular thing at this stage. First of all: there is a really nice buffet with starters before you start the actual Hot Pot. Fried Rice, noodles, really yummy spring rolls and all other sorts of things are there to eat and are included in the overall fixed price. Careful: don't go crazy because you are hungry because the star should be the Hot Pot. You can get all sorts of ingredients such as mushrooms, vegetables (also the ones that we do not eat too often around here), thin noodles and of course a lot of meat (beef or lamb and I think chicken too) with no limit. Count in some time because having Hot Pot is a social thing and we usually spend around 2 hours in the place. I know Hot Pot from Hong Kong and we have it each time we visit and as a result, I can confirm that DineDong is really authentic! Obviously some items are not available i.e. fish balls, but I don't mind. Service is fantastic. There is a French waiter who is really friendly and even is fluent in mandarin. The owners are friendly and always welcome you with a smile. The price has recently gone up a bit but it is still a very fair deal for what you get. Fresh meat, fresh vegetables, a choice of soups (different levels of spicy) so if you have a chance, try it out!
