Reservation request for Chez Grand-mère

We had booked reservations in advance online. We learned that dining for lunch is downstairs below ground, but due to a fall in Paris, I was not able to manage the stairs successfully. We requested that we be seated upstairs on the ground level. Our request was met with an initial sigh by the hostess, but she then accommodated us. Out server was delightful and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious! We heartily enjoyed terrine de foie gras, the petite planche, and the cervelle apero. Together we shared a bottle of a lovely Jean Esprit Syrah from the Crozes-Hermitage region. As part of our Menu, we delighted in their decadent gâteau au chocolat! We recommend making reservations, and we highly recommend that you enjoy a wonderful lunch at the charming and authentic Chez Grand-Mère in Vieux Lyon! Believe the negative reviews. I'm not a food snob, however its plainly obvious meals served at this restaurant are roughly equal to North American hospital fare. Even more insulting was the staff's attempt to have us sit at the end of a row of tables against the wall when the restaurant was clearly not going to fill up and yes we had reservations. The laminated menus should have provided enough warning, but we thought we'd give it a try. Our mistake and we convinced a group of 4 Americans to not enter as we left. That move will automatically make their birthday celebration that much better. Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2
Unhappy experience after having dinner one evening on January 02 good welcome and good service, but the quality in the plate is far from being at the rendezvous, lyonnaise salad badly prepared, veal head with a huge fat and un tasty potatoes, and finish a canut brain with a terrible gôut... establishment to avoid as long as there is no real chef in the kitchen
Once properly installed in the basement, we were well received and well served, and spent a very good time The party menu of the lights was perfect: the cake of tasteful poultry liver, the excellent qunelle, and the pie with perfect and not too sweet pralines, and the note more than correct. Bravo
