El-kababgy Luxor

We finished our visit in Luxor Temple and found out this place. The food is very good, their watermelon juice and lemon menthe juice are just refreshing after a long day walk. Our waiter James is a gentleman and helped us settle down in a good place. He is very funny and I’m good humour. I recommend this restaurant in Luxor.

Everything we ordered was perfect. The starter dishes which came with the main dish were already very nice. The texture of the naan was just right. The start Grilled lamb chops were very tender and so was the pigeon meat. Guava juice was very fresh. Not to mention the great sunset view by the Nile River! James who served us was very friendly and welcoming and he even gave us a free special dish of potato stew with tomatoes, which was very delicious with the rice.

Very good Egyptian food that feels like home-cooked! We absolutely loved the okra tajine with rice, the tahini starter and the soups (one pea and one lentil) ! Definitely recommend and also Hamdy super helpful! Ask him for suggestions!

The worst service. We ordered food for 6 people and the server wrote everything down. The food came out sporadically. They forgot several dishes and we had to ask for the rest of our order multiple times. In the end we still didn’t get 2 of the dishes we ordered and they charged us for them. One of the dishes they said they ran out and just gave us a random dish. They said that we need to keep an eye on the dish because the other servers will grab it and take it to their tables. This restaurant is also attached to a hookah bar. We pre-ordered the hookah and dessert so we can have it ready right after dinner. When we walked over there, they had nothing ready and acted surprised. so we placed our order again. We waited there for 40 minutes and ordered the same thing 10 times before we got our actual order. The food was ok, but the service was terrible. Would not recommend!!!

Found this restaurant at the end of our hot air balloon trip and came back for lunch. Convenient location close to the winter palace hotel and Luxor temple. Nice outdoor seating with the Nile view, juicy lamb chop and friendly servers. Friendly servers brought us warm bread and small dishes on the house. They also got us vegetables soup once they heard we want some sauce to go with the lamb chops. Very satisfactory experience overall
