This was an awesome find. Saw a billboard for the place while heading home and decided to stop in right before closing on a Saturday. We missed Ben and the music they perform early on Saturdays, but will be stopping there the next time we can and will make sure to get there earlier. So much nostalgia is one small place. Cooter's is a must stop if you're in the Luray, VA area. So much memorabilia and nostalgia in a free museum. There is a small diner with live music on Saturdays.
Cooter 's is a museum dedicated to the TV show Dukes of Hazard. The museum is filled to bursting with everything imaginable. Memorabilia from the cast. Toys, clothes and everything in between. There is a recreated child 's room filled with DoH stuff. And an easy chair and TV room. Signs indicate Cooter 's hosts music festivals as well. And no one asked us for money, so I guess it is free. It is a tourist trap but at free that isn 't much of a trap. It is good natured fun and there are plenty of posters of Catherine Bach so it could be worse.
Fun museum of memorabilia from Dukes of Hazard. We enjoyed some ice cream at the cafe.
If you know Dukes of Hazard this place was COOL. We missed Cooter though sometimes he is there. It was cool to see the cars and the nostalgia. It's Authentic and really fun souvenirs.
Small museum with a decent sized collection of Dukes of Hazard memorabilia and automobiles from the show. Cooter's garage has some of the vehicles that were in the show. The gift shop has everything from hoodies, to decals, water bottles, and guitar picks, all with something pertaining to the show on it. Definitely stop here if you are a fan of the show or if you'd like to see a collection of memorabilia from days gone by.
