I ordered myself first. The staff that helped me was very nice. I don't know italian and my Chinese aren't that good, but the menu has English. I ordered 2 bubble teas, 2 shrimp dumplings ravioli), the total of 8 pieces and they are decent size, and Mapo Tofu. They're all legit and good. Even if your Mapo Tofu container looks like it's leaking ish that's normal and okay, nothing leaks. I think it's a little expensive... View all feedback.
What midvej doesn't like about New Shanghai:
We went there for a lunch. I had an egg fried rice (veggie). It was completely tasteless and obviously did not have too much vegetables inside. The appetiser was in a meat-only option, which also was a minor disappointment. The bubble tea is so, but it is probably the best bubble tea you can in Lugano. And yes, I will return to this place soon.
First encounter on the phone was extremely dismissive and rude, she asked me how old I was, thinking I was a child and she said she will not take our order simply because she did not understand what was being said. Had to repeat the address 6 times and even then she did not understand. Simply horrible staff. I do not recommend. *As a 23 year old adult, I am old enough to order alcohol, which we DID NOT even order, we attempted to order fried rice (amongst other things) which we had to repeat 6 times as well as she did not understand what we were saying. We called ONCE and were so rudely dismissed. Clearly no experience or understanding of hospitality if this is the way you reply to customers. Thank you for the tip but as you can imagine there will be no next time.
Very authentic Chinese food, not only Shanghai style ones. Highly recommended if you love Chinese food
Good prices, clean, welcoming environment, good food, very kind professional, everything perfect.
We ordered home delivery but it wasn't a great experience. Very dry lemon chicken and soy spaghetti with prawns that must have had three prawns. I would add that my daughter enjoyed the duck a l'orange. UPDATE FOR THE OWNER order dated May 9, 2021 delivered with MIpiaace cost 92.65 CHF. A bad evening can happen to anyone and that doesn't mean we won't try your restaurant again, the chicken was dry and the prawns were few (frankly I didn't count them). However, I find it incorrect to suggest that we did not order from you.
