We were there on weekends and it was really rewarding, great selection of delicious cakes, even defensive little things were offered there! Coffee was also good, highly recommended! View all feedback.
Vischering Castle is a great destination for the whole family. Especially children interested in knights are full at their expense. The castle surrounded by water is very well preserved, including the train bridge. Inside there is a beautifully designed knight exhibition for children. Approval is also very favourable for families.

Compared to other Münsterland water locks, Vischering Castle still looks like a fortress. From the original construction of the 13th There is hardly anything to discover, but the "new building" from the 16th century Century The century is one of the best preserved buildings of this time in Münsterland. In detail about the history of Vischerings, here would lead to far as I refer to the excellent Wikipedia article: https: de.wikipedia.org wiki Burg_ Vischering Lieber I refer to what awaits the visitor today, that is more than enough. »The Vorwerkareal« Like the inner regions, this part was formerly surrounded by trenches and walls, of which only small remains can be found today. Like all water trenches, the outer trenches were also supplied with water from Stever River. Today there is a 19th-century garden house. century used as a cashier and information center, here you will also receive a special pen against deposit with which you can use the digital elements in the other buildings. The entrance fee is 7.50€, screens and larger bags must be accommodated in lockers. The ladies who work here are very friendly and provide necessary and useful information. Next you pass the 15th. The century consecrated Georgskapelle, who cannot show a tower but only a runner. Continue along a millstone, which today serves as a bird bath, which originates from the grain mill, which was destroyed in an air battle in 1944. Remains of the outer wall with a slip gate enter the wall surrounding the main and the precinct. Here is also the bronze sculpture 'Der Kiepenkerl Anton'. »The Vorburg« Various economic buildings form the precinct on the first island and reach a bridge built in 1719 which leads over the inner forces. The rooms at Café Reitstall are located in the former riding stable. Only the outdoor area was now accessible, you need a test certificate. The Bauhaus offers an event hall and space for exhibitions. Here and in the main castle wheelchairs make a visit barrier-free. The exhibition, which was shown during our visit, dealt with the French foreign dominance in Westphalia and, in particular, with stone freedom. Documents, images and videos illustrate a moving time. Photographing without lightning is allowed both here and in the main lock, but not always simply because of the light conditions. »The core or main castle« A wooden bridge, which used to be a train bridge, reaches the main castle, a ring shell castle with a large courtyard. The various parts of the building are all connected to each other. Walking disabled people should use the chairs as some stairs are extremely steep. The main exhibition deals with the history of the Droste family of Vischering during the times. The exhibition spaces have changed very well and are no longer as crowded as before. There are many multimedia and digital elements for this purpose, whose application is also explained intelligible for lay people. In addition, you can contact any employee who likes to provide information at any time. As always, I was most impressed by the marriage bed (with wooden sky) of the pagan empire of Vischering and his wife Jaspara. It is strange that for the extinction straight scenes were selected from the history of Adam and Eve. By the way, the two coats of arms attached to the head end are those of the two nuts of the pair. In the courtyard there is a mirror system that I find sensational. Mirrors are so suitable that visitors can see different partial views from themselves, although they remain at their point of view. For data protection reasons, I cannot provide a photo. In my opinion, a visit to the castle is always worthwhile, because it is also something very special in the city-rich Münsterland and with its many interiors that are highly recommended for rainy weather.
I went to Münsterland with my wife. We also stopped in front of Lüdinghausen at Vischering Castle. A large parking lot, free to use. Then a short way to the castle, in the museum you will get its ticket and access to the castle and later to the museum. However, it was a raven-black day because my memory card no longer read, the more I am pleased that Alf has uploaded pictures here. The entrance fee of €2.50 for adults has been rewarded as the Vischering Castle has remained almost unchanged and gives an impression of life in the late Middle Ages and the early modern times, as no other Westphalia water castle.
Sooo beautiful. You can really relax here. In the museum I was not yet (I must admit), but the surroundings, the beautiful ruins, the many greens that invite you to a small walk. Also recommended is the bread that can be bought there in the afternoon. Otherwise you can also stay so good and finish a nice day. A trip is worth it.
