Trattoria Da Checco - LUCCA

Good food, well cooked, friendly atmosphere, the only problem was the slow service. The restaurant is big and definitely understaffed. All dishes were fairly priced.

If you want a change from the usual pizza and pasta, and fancy being a little adventurous, go to Da Cecco. And check the website first if you rely on your Satnav as it will tell you exactly what to enter. Good house wine, excellent service, smart-casual ambiance, large portions. I had the fried chicken and rabbit with vegetables. I think I woyld have preferred it if the vegetables had not been fried, but it was one of those nights when I felt like getting out the comfort zone! Not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but a grade above the others we tried and therefore good value.

When we were staying in the Lucca area our hostess recommended this restaurant to us. It was a revelation. All four us were delighted with our selections with the baked fish being my favourite. Service was excellent, as was the local wine. Tomorrow we will try to find the vineyard and buy more Tenuta Maria Teresa!

Loved everything. The food was great especially the fish, and also the desserts are wonderful.
