We had a cocktail for aperitif, as starter a plate with a mixture of cheeses and meat to share, and then a tagliata with salad and oven baked potatoes with a Brunello, and coffee/tee to end. The food was definitely ok, and the drinks fair. The service was mixed: one waitress hardly spoke some English, but fortunately the second waitress was fluent in English and French, and very friendly. The price is what you expect in the touristic centre of Lucca: we paid 140 €.
We had Decent salads and wine but nothing special. Of course the people show on the piazza was entertaining as it always is.
The restaurant enjoys excellent location but does not match up in quality. Warm wine, menu items not available (maybe scale down the menu? , forgettable food. And in the age of Covid, better for the host not to touch guests or be upset when they don't want to shake hands on departure.
Probably the only restaurant that overcharges in the antifeatro. Food is mediocre at best but this one of the first restaurants to be seen. Thankfully it was closed in Jan 2020 when we revisited Lucca.
I ate lunch here in August 2019. Piazza Anfiteatro has many restaurants. As I was trying to decide where to eat lunch (on a very hot day), I noticed a nice Filipino waitress at La Brusketta. So I decided to have lunch here. I had bruschetta and the quality of the tomatos and olive oil were fantastic. I also had ravioli with spinach and ricotta. Very delicious. There was a second Filipino server (a waiter) who was very nice to talk to. The service was very good. If I go to Lucca again I definitely will go back to La Brusketta.
