The restaurant is located very conveniently near San Frediano church within the walls of the old city in an historic building that serves as a hostel. My wife ordered eggplant parmigiano that was delicious and I had a steak (filetto that was cooked perfectly (al sangue--very rare--just the way I like it. The portions were generous and the quality of the food outstanding. Of course the pastas served before the main meal were prepared fresh, al dente, and the sauces were mouthwatering. Though we were full, we shared a dessert, the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. What we found impressive was that the servers were excellent, obviously well-trained and attentive. The pace of the serving was just right. The quality of the meal far exceeded the prices, so we give it 5 stars in the value for money category. The restaurant also contains a full bar, serving not only alcohol, fine wines, but also delicious cappuccinos, espressos, etc. We highly recommend allostello and hope to return again this week, before we leave Lucca.
