Quirky decoration, friendly service and great food made this a perfect lunch-stop while exploring the Spreewald. The spatzl with chicken and mushrooms was great, and the quantity certainly generous. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Restaurant Charleston:
Looks like a nice restaurant, so we chose it. There's a lot in the area, but for some reason we choose it. The waitress was half-commented, and you could feel that she just fucked down the clock. Our food sounded delicious... on the menu, but the execution was disappointing. The display was good, but only no quality food. The same can be said about the children's meals. It was overseasoned and just not great. The thr... View all feedback.
Fresh delicious and especially regional dishes. Good location, service
The second mistake was to order only one dessert for the menu of the day. The creamed herb soup was mostly water with cress sprouts, salt and pepper to be added by the guests (4.80 Euros). The duck breast was't crisp on the outer, fat side. And the inside was well-done, a no-no for duck, and chewy as well. The noodles (not home-made) were mixed with what was advertised as ratouille: well, there were some cooked vegetables, I suppose (19.70 Euros). The wine menu offered nothing inviting. The wife tried a red wine by the glass (5.40 Euros for 0.25 Liter) and regretted it. I had a fresh Bitburger from the tap (2.40 Euros for 0.3 Liter). The dessert was a mascarpone-egg liqueur (think advocaat) mixture with some pieces of fruit (5.60 Euros). It was good, and packed an alchoholic wallop. And boy, did we need that after this poor meal. The first mistake was come to this restaurant.
We found ourselves in Lübbenau for a wedding and having arrived mid to late afternoon we set about finding somewhere for a light bite (an impossible task we thought given the time.....3pm !) Having sauntered down the high street we arrived at the doors of the Charleston and how lucky that we did! The two members of staff that we encountered were just wonderful. My German is pretty non existant and their English was about the same but never mind as between us all we managed to order a delicious late (very late!) lunch accompanied by a fruity local wine. I can't praise those ladies enough as it would have been much easier to turn us away given the hour but they didn't and hats off to them for that! We left a generous tip and walked away happy so if you do find yourself in Lübbenau looking for a great place to eat (German/European cuisine) then pay the Charleston a visit you won't be disappointed!
