Our stay at the Banyan House in The Moorings Village, Islamorada, was an unforgettable retreat. The 3 bedroom villa marries elegance and comfort, offering a spacious, well appointed living area and kitchen. The bedrooms are tranquil with plush beds, and the master suite features a luxurious en suite bathroom. The villa's porch is a standout, perfect for admiring sea views and stunning Islamorada sunsets. The private beach, a stone's throw away, offers pristine sands and a peaceful ambiance. The overall property is beautifully maintained, with an inviting pool and lush, fragrant landscapes that are a joy to explore. Centrally located in Islamorada, we were close to local eateries, boutiques, and attractions like the Theater of the Sea. The staff, from housekeeping to the concierge, were courteous and dedicated, ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect. The Banyan House is more than a vacation spot it's a luxurious, tranquil experience that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended
There are some great things about the Moorings...the Cottages, the pool and the staff who are polite and charming. However given that the Moorings is more expensive than the Four Seasons it needs to be VERY good. No restaurant, no bar or staff to bring you a drink. No tennis court. The Moorings seems to be very focused on the beach which is currently a big problem. The seaweed makes their beach close to unusable. If there is no wind the smell is too much to even sit on the beach. And....you can not really enter the water from the beach unless you are willing to wade through the muck generated by the seaweed. The seaweed is a known problem so I called and asked before our trip. No problem at all and if seaweed comes in we will remove it all . Unfortunately this was not an honest response. Better/accurate would have been the seaweed will be a big negative effect on your stay we can make some accommodation on our price or we can reschedule you . Given the expense level this is a reasonable expectation. We have stayed at other ultra expensive places and when there is a real problem we have been very happy that they tried to come up with a real solution so we would come back rather than telling us it is not really a problem. We are looking for a very nice beach place to come to a couple of times a year. The Moorings will not be on our list.
Yesterday, in the early morning hours of a dreaded departure, I rolled my luggage away from the Orchid Cottage, across the clickety clack of a handcrafted wooden walkway to our private/gated, and very home like, parking spot. The walk to/from the Orchid drew us into a vibrantly colored orchid garden, protected under the shade of dozens of coconut palms. Slices of sunshine slip through the palm fronds to light your way to and from. The short walk to the the Orchid cottage is akin to Mother Nature 's Yellow Brick Road, and barely repeatable. After only a few hours back in Michigan, I woke up this morning dreaming of excuses to return...asap. The staff at the Moorings, both Sandra and Sara, were as helpful and genuine as your favorite family member. They helped me with resort history, dining, activities, a late night pizza, and our favorite...Captain Rob, who will pick you up at the Moorings dock and curate a day to your liking, just tell him what you 're feeling like doing that day. Excellent boat Captain; I even ordered a book he recommended. Our cottage had exquisitely soft linens and fresh buoyant pillows, which I 'm ordering for my home tonight. Each night, we unfolded the living room roll out bed to watch tv with the French doors thrown open to the ocean with fresh air rolling in. At bed time, although not accustomed to a queen, we found the bed to be brand new and cloud like; phenomenal nights of overdue rest. The new pool nothing could be done to make it better. Classic design, the temp is perfect (even late night), salt water, gorgeous lighting, private bathrooms are immaculately clean, modern, and stylish. In the cottage, Molton Brown products, Nespresso, and Lavazza make you feel at home. An illuminated candle welcomed us into our bungalow when we arrived, along with Key Lime tarts in the full size refrigerator, with waters bed side. Several couples were staying in the cottages on property, although we saw only two other guests during our stay. It felt as though someone had personally orchestrated tranquility without our need to ask. I 'm young and vibrant, but let me tell you how much I appreciated, in my off time, not hearing tiny ones screaming, no diapers marinating in the pool, no sunscreen and other mysterious fluids floating on top of the pool water. If you need to fill up your soul with peace and the ultimate luxury of nature, the Moorings is your place. I high five the difficult effort put into allowing every guest to feel protected while on property and relieved of all personal responsibilities. Cons: I 'd really like to see food and bar options on property, whether it 's an on your honor kitchen/ bar or onsite. I understand food/bar options are underway. My thoughts are being lazy on this point, as that 's what I do on holiday. It sounds like the new spa is also under development. We will be back...asap. Lia Wayne
Right from the Netflix series Bloodline, the main house and cottages are exquisite. Feel like the Rayburn’s must be nearby. We stayed in the Orchid Cottage. Very, very nice small cottage for two. Low on closet space is my only concern. All cottages are steps from the iconic beach and pier you see in the series. Private park is nice. Pool is fabulous. Everything is well maintained. Pricy at $1700 for smallest cottage to $4000/night to stay in the main house. Great location. Plenty to do. Drinks next door at the Tiki Bat at Cheeca Lodge were outstanding. See Joe the Bartender for a Blueberry Mojito. Best I’ve ever had.
