Gumbo Ya Ya makes the best gumbo and shrimp and grits we have ever tasted, and that includes what we have eaten in Louisiana. Sorry Louisiana! The roux that made up the gumbo was so intensely flavored it felt like we were eating a mole at times. The grits were super creamy and cheesy with a smooth texture and the shrimp, cooked to order, were delicate and juicy. We will be dreaming of this place for a long time to co... View all feedback.
What Josie N doesn't like about Gumbo Yaya:
Was craving gumbo and wanted to give this place a shot. Their serving size to price point is kind of skimpy. A tiny serving of their sides is so expensive and the gumbo? Is so watered down and runny? Usually gumbo has a bit of thickness. It really just tasted like soup? Maybe level above the Campbell stuff. The sausage she uses is good, but I wish the portions were bigger. Her potato salad is delicious but it's serve... View all feedback.
Amazingly good food. We had the gumbo plus the shrimp and grits. Both are great dishes. They serve a file gumbo which isn't as thick as okra gumbo but it was the best I've ever tasted. And all because of their superior roux, andouille sausage and chicken thigh. Perfection! The shrimp and grits are made to order. Shrimp is perfectly tender and sweet. The cheesy grits are a perfect foil to the shrimp. Nothing was overpowered. Both dishes were well balanced but so layered we just couldn't imagine any better. Well done!
Went here for lunch and it was delish! The shrimp baked potato was really good and super filling and I got a cup of gumbo, would have liked a bit more rice but other than that it was yummy! Definitely will be trying other things on the menu!
Not much to say other than, Holy moly! Perfect for a cold day, Gumbo Ya Ya serves up delicious gumbo straight to the soul! Opt for a side of the delicious potato salad and don 't be afraid to mix the two together! Huge pieces of meat and delicious sausage make for a hearty lunch that fills you up and warms your bones!
Fresh and beyond yummy.will definitely be stopping by again very soon.

Her potato salad is delicious but it's served in a dipping sauce container... all in all it's ok for over priced soup.
