What Cheryl Page doesn't like about Taqueria Rancho Alegre:
I had high hopes that rancho alegre would be a great little hole in the wall place, like I miss from San Diego, but it was not. The food was average. The barbacoa simply tasted like plain roast beef. It had no spices in it, just onion. My husband said his dish was the same. The tortillas were good . The service was very friendly and quick. The food just wasn 't that good. Bummer. Breakfast burritos are amazing! I had mine smothered and I highly recommend it. The green chile has excellent flavor! So glad I tried this place!
I got the carne asada combo plate and my husband got the barbacoa plate. Both were very delicious though I probably won't spend $14 for my dish again. I'll definitely be back to try their other items. The green sauce they have is really delicious. Sadly too spicy for me but I couldn't resist eating some.
This place is amazing! Being a southern California native I know authentic Mexican food. The food here is truly authentic! Great portion sizes and reasonably priced! I had the chicken enchiladas plate and can truly say the red sauce was like nothing I've ever tasted in the restaurant industry. Only other place I've found this type of red sauce was made at home. If that tells you anything about the food here. This taqureia is a hidden gem! I'll definitely be back for more.
