As a general rule of thumb the further one moves away from the Sanctuary, the less commercialised Lourdes becomes. Bar de L'Hotel de Ville is a nice fifteen minute pleasant walk from the Sanctuary and is a typical country French bar lots of activity, lively conversation a fine selection of drinks and a somewhat bohemian atmosphere. The ambiance menu beckoned with this restaurant but really did not deliver on the expectation. A table to accept the wheelchair in position was very good which gave us a sense of quiet intimacy. We got the impression this restaurant very much lived on local business lunches, every body appeared to know everybody else. Overall we felt the food was average if not overpriced for what it was. Very hospitable staff. fair prices, pleasant atmosphere.
Friendly staff and a nice place to wait for your train...reasonably priced beer as well....no complaints..
