During my recent stay with a Friend we dined two evenings in Peacock's Grill. We enjoyed the food and Wine immensely. Fillet Steak,Turbot,Piri Piri Chicken all great with lovely Vegetables. Service was excellent by really friendly Staff in very pleasant surroundings. Most Enjoyable evenings.

This is a really nice place to ea.The staff are great and the service was first class. The food was really good. It is a little pricey but we felt the food and service justified the cost. (ate there twice during our 5 night stay)

The restaurant is in a mainly glass conservatory overlooking the terrace and pretty gardens. I'm sure in spring/summer it's a delightful setting but on dark winter nights it lacks the cosy feel of other restaurants. The attached bar has fires in the wall but I've never seen them lit, maybe they are just a design feature. The bar has live music sometimes which improves the atmosphere. The menu in winter is limited, the food is OK but overpriced for relatively small portions. Freshly baked bread in very good.

We have eaten at Peacocks over the last four years and have always enjoyed creative and well prepared cuisine plus excellent service. But it has now gone horribly wrong! The restaurant has been moved into the bar which still has a bar that you cannot use! The surroundings are stark and unappealing and there is zero atmosphere. Part of what was the dining room is now a theatre seated bar with a big screen hideous. The menu has shrunk and is unimaginative and cooking average. Who has beeninstrumental in initiating this nonsense? Crazy. Best to regard it as a no go area now. I feel sorry for the staff who are unfailingly courteous and helpful. But they can only do so much faced with idiotic direction.

We had a Caesar salad which was delicious. There was also some homemade bread with it which we loved both because of the crunchy crust and the bread itself. The white wine we opted for, a chardonnay, was a good choice we felt, because it had a fresh somewhat sparkly taste. All in all a very nice meal with very attentive service.
