We were staying about 8km outside Faro and a... read more Our Portuguese hosts took us out on a Wednesday evening to their favourite restaurant which we were excited about. We were staying about 8km outside Faro and a taxi ride home cost us 13euro so I’m guessing a taxi to the restaurant would be about 10. You’d definitely need a car or taxi as it’s off the beaten track. WOW this place exceeded all our expectations!!! Nelson the owner is the Maitré D plus takes all of the orders He doesn’t even write them down such is his passion and supreme confidence!! Obviously there is a menu but he asked me what I liked and said leave it to me I explained I wanted typical Portuguese seafood....I left myself in Nelsons hands We weren’t disappointed!!! First came the bread olives and a small pickled veg medley with like a goats cheese round Then we shared a beautiful pan of sweet clams cooked in butter olive oil and garlic My wife had sardines but each time she finished more would arrive at her plate such was Nelsons hawkish eyes as he ingratiated himself amongst his guests they only stopped when she laughingly said please enough!! For my main I had the simplest grilled baby squid which were a triumph My host had a large sharing plate of stuffed baby squid which I had two these were delicious His accompaniment were spring greens and potatoes The meal I have to say was outstanding and along with a bottle of red wine, several beers,vodka and tonics plus only two desserts (I was too full) the bill was a mere €113 I can’t wait to visit here next time as it’s just like eating with friends fantastic!!!!

The service was kind and attentive and we had a great family time. I do recommend this restaurant if you are in Faro, Algarve.
