I apparently did no... read more I couldn’t understand why this restaurant was always empty when the cafe next door was busy. I went there tonight, and now I understand why. I apparently did not order a dish that was expensive, which soured the lady (who I assume is the owner or manager). She was abrasive, rude, and dismissive. It was uncomfortable and awkward. A little kindness and politeness goes a long way. Maybe try it sometime?

It has both indoor and outside din... read more The Afonso III is located just a 5 minute stroll from the centre, in a quiet square directly opposite the Loulé Jardim Hotel. It has both indoor and outside dining areas and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate here twice during our stay and each time the food was excellent. We had Mackerel with Tomato Rice, green salad, Turkey and Mushrooms in a cream sauce and the Cuttlefish with rice and chips, also their homemade Trio De Algarve dessert! Everything was great, including the portion sizes and prices were also very reasonable. Highly recommended!
