We had an early lunch on a Sunday when the restaurant was not too busy, and the service was excellent. We ordered a shared platter of the combo fajitas, which turned out to be more than enough food for both of us. View all feedback.
What K doesn't like about El Nopal Blankenbaker:
Weird service. Waiter would not speak to me (woman) or acknowledge me, but talked to my husband. He threw the silverware on the table when we were seated. Must have had a bad day. Food was mediocre but we are from Chicago. View all feedback.
The food was good. Lunch specials were not expensive. The tortia chips was hot. The food was served a very short time after ordering it. They are fast during lunch time. This is great place to go during lunch if you are short on time and want a sit down meal instead of fast food.
Everything was good except for the queso. I don't know if they just made it wrong or changed the recipe. It was very thick and has an orange tint to it.
I hate to say this but I’m so disappointed. I went to El Nopal a couple weeks ago, ordered Los Yolanda’s which comes with a side of rice… I get home take a bite and it’s EXTREMELY salty and it’s gritty. Not cooked all the way. The rice is my favorite part it makes the meal for me. I call and they replace it next day no problem(because of that I’m giving 2 stars) , it was good and I was happy. Fast forward to tonight, I call in and get the same thing pick it up get home and the rice is salty and gritty again like it’s not cooked all the way. At this point I don’t want to call to replace it again because I’m scared they’re going to think I’m being a Karen, plus I don’t want to get the kids back out to drive back up there so I just don’t eat it, even the kids refused it and they eat anything. Afterwards Im still hungry (bc I didn’t eat half my food) so I tried some of the salsa and chips and it tastes like tomato water. No flavor at all not like it usually is... Idk if they have a new chef or what’s going on but unfortunately I probably won’t go back to this location because I don’t have the time or gas to keep driving back and forth. Hopefully the kitchen can work on this issue bc it’s really a shame we’ve been coming here once a week for years.
Ordered the chicken salad. Love the tortilla shell, but there was hardly any lettuce, far too much fresh onion and peppers. No sour cream. Next time I'll have the peppers and onions done fajita style. Two salsas on the table. One is a watery ketchup and the other is decently hot.
I ordered a Taco salad and it was so soupy/watery in the bottom!!! Ugh! I couldn't tell if refried beans were in the bottom of the shell!!!
