We were a walk in and got the last table. I would highly suggest booking a reservation as there were numerous groups turned away.We started with a half dozen of the small oysters. They were by far the best oysters we have ever had. We had a small order of mussels in the house homemade recipe and an order of the scallops with a garden salad. The mussels were amazing and were enough for two people. The scallop dish was d... What Esma Alpuğan doesn't like about Malpeque Oyster Barn:
Raw oyster and raw clams are delicious, but I could clearly feel the hostility of the server we are Asian, so I was inclined to think it is due to racism. I was made feel unwelcome View all feedback.
Great oysters served with two different sauces, we had a dozen big and they were delicious. Clams with suit were perfectly steamed and served with a beautiful baguette. Unfortunately, the lobster was a great disappointment, a great role for the...small amout of lobster. Fish taco was okay. Good service with friendly staff.
It's okay. Still, out of the way. Small, but suitable room. But the overhead fan is AC. Wind drifts are annoying. Two waiters work hard. But on a busy Saturday night, you will definitely need help. As a result, the service is not almost...with quite steep prices. No cutlery came for 20 minutes. No water. No appetizers. You know you're starting for trouble when butter comes in plastic containers. The Chowder had no body and was lukewarm. No good start. The networks are also subduing. Fish cakes are glands and see more like badly shaped pancakes. Potato and potato salad sides should not be the stars. The scallop capability is a disappointment. Presentation is atmospheric. Six slightly larger than dime-sized horseradish scallops, borders on being angry. Carmeled onions are also bland- and tasteless. An empty beer cannot be removed. Deserts were fine. But suffocating strawberry that crashes from a white bucket onto the hard-as-rock cheesecake could not salt it. Pepper and salt were not offered anywhere. The waitresses did their best. But the kitchen runs on fumes and generous reviews. We will not return.
Just go. That's the real deal. No tourist trap and definitely not flashy. Only the freshest simple ingredients and the next at the source place possible to enjoy some of the best oysters everywhere, at a family house gemstone. The fish cakes are... another favorite, and for the little ones who do not yet appreciate shellfish, the grilled cheese or chicken sandwiches make it work for the whole family. And the desserts are made by a friend of the owners a good way to finish the meal. When we walk past walk signs in New York City Advertising PEI Mussels or Malpeque Oysters, smile, sigh and pass, we dream of when we return to the red sand and cliffs of Cabot Park and feed in the Oyster Barn. Make sure that you plan, although with just a few tables, it can be hard to get a place!
The first time in the Oyster Bar to try them. 1/2 dozen ordered and they were so good that we ordered a 1/2 dozen. This is a must-have restaurant!!
Yesterday for the first time, we had reservations at Malpeque Oyster Barn for dinner. That is so very true as someone wrote for the place, you don’t get it fresher than that, right out of the sea literally. I had a half dozen of their...large size raw oysters and I tell you, you did not need any fancy sauces or even the lemon to hide the beautiful taste of these oysters on the half shell. The small but quaint restaurant with a small number of tables was decorated for what the area is known for MALPEQUE OYSTERS. The restaurant does serve them in other different forms, like Rockefeller. But that was not what I went there for. There was also other seafood items on the menu also, like salads and biscuits which were also delicious. You cannot go there without a reservation, and unfortunately the restaurant is situated up a floor, and the only way to get upstairs is a very steep staircase. I have a disability, so no walker or cane, thank goodness they have a very strong banister which I had to use to go up and down with the help of my Husband. But I tell you, their food was worth the effort!
