The Great Greek And Taverna

Visiting this place is always a great experience. The food has a delightful home-cooked flavor, although the consistency can vary at times. The waitstaff even joins in the fun, dancing to the live Greek music!

When my office was located in Studio City and I wanted to enjoy a leisurely lunch, this was one of my go-to spots. Skip the sourdough basket and go for their grilled pita bread; it’s absolutely fantastic! I’ve heard they import it all the way from Chicago, though I can’t recall the source. That said, the quality of the dishes can vary; for instance, their Avgolemono soup was excessively salty and overly lemony on one occasion, but on another day, it was just right. I also love their dolmades, and I can’t resist ordering the combination sampler, which includes dolmades, moussaka, spanakopita, and pastitsio, all served with roasted potatoes, rice, and vegetables. It’s a great deal, too—less than $13!
