They had a fabulous salsa band and that made the night. Otherwise, the service was ridiculously slow, although I don't mind enjoying slow service, especially when enjoying music... the server wore no mask and that made me nervous, and the food was nothing to rave. What User doesn't like about Rumba Kitchen:
For improvement reasons only! The restaurant only had about 7 tables seated and it took about 25 min to take our order. Then 1 hour exactly to bring our drinks and they only came because I reminded the waiter, which said when I reminded him “ oh yeah”. Absolutely delicious and generous portion sizes. Best offer for Puerto Rican food in LA! Don't forget, MasterChefJr. Taste Maria's Flan, it's great!
It’s my second time here. Love the food and the live music was great.
Overall good experience, however, coming from Puerto Rico, the food was a bit of a disappointment. The Toro mofongo had almost no plantains, the loaded tostones had too many different flavors, and the arroz con gandules tasted weird or had no flavor at all. I will say that the meats were cooked perfectly and had a lot of rich flavor alongside the different sauces that were given on the different plates. The sauces themselves give the traditional plates a bit of a twist, however I feel because of the faults mentioned before the sauces went unappreciated. Overall, the restaurant had great service and ambiance, it just falls short on the traditional plates for their flavor.
The food from TripleThreatTruck was always amazing and Rumba did not disappoint. Very happy to see a Puerto Rican restaurant in Los Angeles! The food and the music was amazing. Looking forward to going back soon!
Authentic Puerto Rican experience! The appetizers were our favorites! Looking forward to when we can go back and order our favorite Puerto Rican drinks as well.
