Fundamental Dtla - Los Angeles

My sister (who is a restaurant owner herself) and I were only in LA for less than four days, but we ate at fundamental DTLA four times! It 's located conveniently at the end of a cable car line, one block from our motel, yet has a tucked away and undiscovered gem feel to it. Colorful, inviting décor, a very friendly staff--including the owner, Pat--and nice art on the walls contributed to that we 've found a home feeling. We managed to sample at least seven different menu items between the two of us and they were consistently yummy, served with a smile and a joke or two. Portions were plentiful. The oatmeal was amazing, filled with apples and cranberries and bananas. Coffee was just right. We got back to Santa Barbara last night and I miss fundamental DTLA already.

We ended up at fundamental DTLA after being discouraged by the queue at mama's. We waited five minutes and we were able to choose from a wide range of eggs, French toasts, pancakes among others. The food came quickly and it was delicious, the staff was very nice and the bill pretty cheap (43 for 2ppl including tip). Would definitely go back!

Went to fundamental DTLA after seeing the line wrapped around Mama 's. I got the granola banana pancakes with eggs and bacon. The food was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but I 'm not too picky.I 'm giving it three stars because of the customer service. Not the worst I 've ever had, but I didn 't feel welcome. My waitress never came back to my table to check up, and only said three words to me. Actually three words: ready? and you done? . All in all, it wasn 't truly a bad experience, just a 3/5 one.

We were regulars at this place until I brought my wife and her parents for breakfast one Saturday. The waitress was the rudest server I have ever had! She actually had a melt down after she messed up our order and never returned to our table. Pat was there and despite us being regulars, did nothing.... Never will return shame, the food was good and the other servers were nice. (still giving it two stars because that waitress will get fired one day)

Fundamental DTLA is one of my favorites, this time we ordered Midtown scramble without ham and banana coconut pecan waffle. Just FYI , me and my husband, we prefer no meat in our food, and so they do customize on almost all the menu items , the way we like it, which is a great plus point for us.Midtown scramble was perfectly done, eggs were right and hash brown was perfect too. Quantity is quite large; this can be a meal for two.
