First time here, service was impeccable. Food was amazing. We ordered a few dishes to share, very flavorful. Missing a picture of the steak frites, it was delicious, perfect medium rare with shoestring fries. Only suggestion to the establishment is valet parking, took about 10 minutes driving around the blocks to find parking. View all feedback.
What Deshaun Crist doesn't like about Cafe Birdie:
Really disappointed to not have the full menu. The pricing was exorbitant for how small the portions were. Spent $180 and enjoyed the flautas from a street cart on Figueroa much better. The flautas were flavorful and filling and cost $6. Instead of going to cafe birdie again I will be eating much more flavorful and properly priced food. This place has gone downhill from its opening. Let's not even get into how bad th... View all feedback.
A few days ago I enjoyed a happy hour cafe birdie. put a reservation in thru resy, but had to call to get a place at the cash. Happy hour menu was more than enough to enjoy alone or with friends. wifey and I have criminal friars, birdie klumpia, chicken wings and crispy cauliflower. wings were the winner for their gochujang taste. I started with a French 75, but later I took a trumpet pilsner. wifey had an east la fadeaway and a little tiki (picked with around). east la fadeaway was this time the winner of the pandan? yes, please! apropos pandan, the kokos pandan panna cotta! oh man, I should double the order every time. the opposite is a far cry to my kindness, but I am glad to see what it will be. I look forward to my next splurge!
The first time the service was impeccable. eating was amazing. we ordered a few dishes to share, very tasteful. Missing a picture of the steak fries, it was delicious, perfect medium rare with boot running fries. only suggestion for the facility is park service, took about 10 minutes by car to find the blocks parking.
Second time here. First time was for dinner which felt decent at the time. They had some kind of smoky cocktail which I liked. Came here today for happy hour. Fun ambiance and friendly service, but the food was just ok. Had fries (which were fine), fried chicken sandwich, little gems salad, cauliflower, wings. Everything except the fries was wayyy too salty, even for bar food. We almost wished we had more fries just to dilute things. Wasn't that cheap either. The little gems salad, it turned out, was Asian-flavor inspired. Fish sauce, bean sprouts, basil on lettuce. I felt like I was eating the toppings to a pho. I love pho but it wasn't my favorite as a standalone salad. Overall fun place. I might try again for dinner but not happy hour.
One of my favorite neighborhood spots in HLP. My husband and I come here for happy hour a lot. Their happy hour fried chicken sandwich (using their Moroccan style fried chicken) is my absolute favorite. As of my last visit a couple weeks ago, they added a few more things to the happy hour menu, including Impossible meat lumpia. I won't say I'm a lumpia snob, but I've been to a lot of Filipino parties in my lifetime (I also make my own), and their impossible lumpia was very tasty! I have also tried other Filipino-inspired dishes on their menu. While it's not Lola's recipes, I'm really happy to see Filipino flavors introduced in modern American restaurants.
