I really wanted to come here and try to french toast options because of all the great reviews, but on a cold spring Sunday morning, I decided on Shaksuka to warm me up. This place is inside a food hall, with outdoor seating in the halls corridor, which is very dog-friendly. You can sign up for a table on the yelp waitlist or on a kiosk in-person... we didn 't have to wait long when we signed up on the app while walki... View all feedback.
What Aaron H doesn't like about Blu Jam Cafe:
Good brunch place. But since it's a chain, would go to another location.Parking: street parking is the go to move. But it's pretty hard to find a spot in LA. There's a lot just across as well $10) Use the QR code menu to order for sit down or take out. We got the crunch French toast, Florentine Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, and Norwegian Benedict. Each were all good in their own ways. Would try another location just cu... View all feedback.
Cute cafe with very good breakfast! We had to wait quite a bit to be seated, but our food arrived quickly once seated. I had to order the crunchy French toast, of course, which was amazing. I personally love how you order and pay off your phone, along with getting everything you need yourself. It makes the whole process quick and easy. I would recommend reserving a spot on Yelp before heading there, just so you can virtually be on the wait list while driving there.Definitely recommend this place!
As for the food, I ordered the church French toast sticks and a breakfast hash. The French toast was absolutely delicious! It had a nice crunch on the outside and the perfect texture inside. The batter they use is fantastic! However, the hash was a bit disappointing. It was rather bland and lacked seasoning, so I found myself adding salt and other condiments to it. Overall, the French toast options were so good that I would definitely recommend this place!
Overall, the food presentation was impressive. I ordered the Power House, which came with egg whites, spinach, and chicken. I’ve had other versions that were more flavorful, but this one got the job done. The chicken was tender, and the portion size was decent. I also got a side of chicken sausage, which tasted good, and a side of bacon that was cooked perfectly and crispy. This place is definitely a great spot for lunch, though it can get really busy. There are also plenty of other excellent restaurants and cafés nearby to check out. Update: I tried their chilaquiles, which were delicious and highly recommended, along with a vanilla latte that was amazing!
Let's start with the positives: the host was fantastic—friendly and efficient, truly acting as a great ambassador for the brand. The ambiance is lovely, especially if you can sit in the patio area, which boasts plenty of natural light. However, several things didn’t go well. The website claims they use the Yelp waitlist, but that’s not the case at the DTLA location. They utilize a QR code system for ordering, which made for an awkward brunch experience. Our food didn’t arrive in any specific order, and the servers seemed too busy to answer any of our questions. Depending on your mobile service, we had to use three different phones to place our order before it finally went through. Unfortunately, my breakfast pasta wasn’t served hot, and my coffee was lukewarm as well. They don’t provide coffee refills, so you’re expected to order another cup if yours is finished. I tried to ask the server about the French press, but she said she would return to address my question and never came back. Additionally, parking is limited to the street or nearby lots, which can add to the stress and could cost around $10. If anyone has recommendations for the best parking options, I’d love to hear them!
What a great brunch! Simply walk down through the breezeway and Blue Jam Cafe is about in the middle. Our server sat us very quickly outside with our mini poodle and we were shown the qr code and were able to order everything on our phones and pay as well. I got the eggs benedict and added a little habanero sauce for a little kick and it was perfect. My friend got the steak hash and loved it. The portions are GENEROUS and the mimosas were nice too. Loved it, would definitelyreturn.
