Things took a turn for the worse when three of our wedding guests were injured by these metal wires, including my bride, who ended up with a wire embedded in her neck and had to be rushed to the emergency room. When we contacted The Great Dane to address the issue, their response was disturbing. They insisted that it was our fault for not removing the wires before serving the cake, and they didn’t even offer an apology. We were shocked by their rudeness and dismissive attitude. When my wife called to inquire why they had used metal wires despite our explicit instructions, she was met with hostility from the staff, who showed no willingness to resolve the situation. Accidents can happen, and while we are understanding people, you would expect at least a basic level of remorse in such a serious situation. Now, a year after our wedding, we're facing another issue. Despite having paid in advance for our one-year anniversary cakes as part of our original contract, The Great Dane has flatly refused to fulfill our order. They claimed they would call us back to take our order, but despite numerous attempts to reach out, we have not received any follow-up. When I suggested a refund for the anniversary cake portion due to their refusal to fulfill our order, they hung up on me. It's disheartening that their customer service deteriorates once they have your money. They might be charming when taking your order, but their treatment of customers afterward is appalling. I find it hard to believe that this establishment continues to operate with such poor customer service standards. There are plenty of wonderful bakeries in Southern California, so do yourself a favor and choose another place. The staff at The Great Dane are simply not nice people, and while their baked goods may be tasty, the risk of harm and their disregard for customer service make this a business to avoid at all costs. I wouldn't have taken the time to write this if I hadn't had such an awful experience, and I truly wish someone had warned me against using them for our wedding cake. I hope this review helps you avoid making the same mistake. Stay away from The Great Dane!
This place transforms cake into true works of art. While you'll pay a premium for these beautiful creations, they are truly stunning! There's also coffee available, along with a cozy spot to enjoy a meal and read your newspaper.
