Just walking and looking for dinner the Tex-Mex sign didn't attract me. We can get this anytime. However, walking past their grill and smoker was an immediate attention getter!Make no mistake, I am a brisket snob. I don't believe any states other than SW and south, maybe Idaho and now Mexico should be allowed to say the do smoked brisket. We sat in the shaded, attractive gardens, good service and started with drinks. The menu was fairly extensive and a number of good looking brisket items. I ordered Chili, Brisket and Black Beans with a picture in my mind of what I was going to get. Wrong...The plate was a beautiful grilled open pepper ( I would have said Pasilla but they called Relleno) and an amazing filling of Black bean, diced brisket with raisins or saltanos.. the brisket was perfectly trimmed and diced with an intense smoky and rub flavor. I can't recall any brisket I enjoyed more. We went back a couple more times hoping to try other menu offerings, but it seems the Easter Holiday had them closed.. not to be missed if in Loreto.
Hurray for the return of the old owners and their new menu. Beautiful garden setting. Delicious tapas menu. Charming and prompt service by Jose Luis. Will return.
