A really good Bar on the Malecon. Drinks were very good and priced well. Nice to sit upstairs or downstairs with the great view of Isla Carmen across the Bay. Locals, visitors and ExPats living in Loreto having a good time there together. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Augie's Bar & Bait Shop:
After reading several reviews we decided we wanted a break from fish tacos and thought we would get a burger at Augie’s. No issues with the service and the beer was cold as advertised. The food was underwhelming. Not the worst I have had and...better than any fast food but still meh! I’d give it a C+ View all feedback.
As long as they remember, it is a tavern, and most great taverns have a strong local follow, they will enjoy their visit here! everyone is welcome, but the quantity is in the rule past the middle mark. they are more likely to see a “Vietnam Vet” or “Let’s go,...Brandon” hat! lol. general, noisy, how taverns should be, sport in tw, a lot of fishing chat, but always upbeat! eating is a question of choice! love their nachos, but I am there for the cold beer and look atmosphere! if they are interested, they offer in the open
It’s become a ritual to stop at Augie’s at least once during our visits to Loreto. The upstairs dining area is perfect for a light meal and enjoying a panoramic view of Loreto’s Bay. You can’t go wrong with their “Daily Specials” as everything is...made fresh. Personally, I stick to “fish of the Day” entrees, but wife loves the Burgers. For me the real treat is downstairs in the bar! The atmosphere is “old school Tavern”, featuring the coldest beer in town, view of the water, the “BS” from local expats and visitors, and usually Augie on his stool at the bar! Several times we dropped in after 3, which meant we had to “eat” something in order to be served (currently because of C-19 rules, only places serving food can serve alcohol after 3). We tried to go minimum with an order of Nachos but were pleasantly shocked by the Mountain of chips and stuff that arrived. Feed the four of us, took 3 rounds to get through it and it ended up being our dinner because we were so full! Buy an Augie’s T-shirt and when you get home, don’t be surprised someone doesn’t stop you to talk about their times to Augie’s!
I believe this watering hole is a fovourite among expats. we learned of Augie from a frequent visitor with whom we shared a cab from the airport. Located across the street from the malecon, the interior is plain, but clean the draw, an extended...happy hour, the well priced drinks, and the free appetizers. If wish, a menu is also available. We usually grabbed a table on the second floor and during our ten night stay, visited Augie's five times.

After a few years off, again on our regular “stop” list! Mostly because we take a fishing trip each year with friends who come from a “pub” culture. We occasionally tag along when they do their daily visit to this “pub” and now almost feel...like a regular! Known as an “ex Pat” spot, A is really just a tavern that serves cold beer and tasty bar food! Has a “locals” element of exPats, a good dose of yearly regulars, and fishermen so it can get loud, full of story swapping, and generally upbeat! Super great place to watch Sports TV most Americans enjoy like College World Series, etc and, of course, soccer! Food is Bar Food- my personal favorite is their Nachos! Augie is a great guy, usually there, and goes out of his way to help you feel like a “regular” until you become one! Stop in for a cold one!
