Stopped for a drink. The wine was good, the view also. The service was also ok; the terrace pretty big and it was not crowded (during the week, in the afternoon).
5 of us called in at 8-30pm without a reservation and was greeted by the host (Horst-Deiter). He made us feel genuinely welcome as did the young lady who looked after us. The food was excellent with very large servings. The restaurant is across the road from the Rhine and would have good views during the day.
The outdoor area of the restaurant has a good view of the Rhine. Quite entertaining watching the river traffic during our meal. A road runs beside the outdoor dining area, but it's not too noisy as there isn't much traffic. The meal itself was good hearty German fare, nothing fancy. Big meat portions. My Schweinsruecken (pork loin) was done just right.
If you’re looking for a unique experience with an undeniable sense of familial comfort, Wingut Weiler is the perfect location. My partner and I visited Lorch whilst travelling Europe and walked through the quiet town to randomly come across this winery. Despite it being the middle of harvest season and the winery being closed, Caroline kindly invited us inside and gave us a tour and some wine to taste. We ended up purchasing two bottles of wine, each one being delicious. I strongly recommend you visit, guaranteeing a warm welcome from the Weiler family.
