I’ve actually been to Vietnam, and Saigon Express is as authentic as it gets. Even ordering nước bầu here feels like being back there. It’s family-run, consistent, and always fresh. I don’t hand out five stars lightly—I’m ranked in the top 10–20% of reviewers not because I post a lot, but because my reviews mean something. And this place absolutely earns it. Have been eating at this restaurant since it opened. We've always been very happy with the food whether eating in or taking out. Tonight we spent over $50 for 2 noodle bowls. The chicken and shrimp were so dry we ate a bite of each and gave up. Egg rolls that we ordered extra of were dry as a bone and had none of the flavor that we've had here in the past. Called the restaurant and they just wanted to argue over the fact that I mentioned that the noodles were cold. NOT the point. After much debate they finally offered a 50% credit for food that we had to throw out. They never gave the promised credit so we had to dispute the charge with credit card company. Extremely disappointed, and will not go back.
On July 4th, my friend and I called to confirm their hours, and the person who answered (after verifying that it was Saigon Express) told us they would be open until 7 PM. When we arrived, I noticed a sign indicating they closed around 5 PM, with only 15 minutes to spare. To clarify, we decided to go inside and ask, but as soon as we entered, the owner aggressively shooed us out without giving us a chance to explain ourselves. This reaction felt completely unnecessary; a simple "I'm sorry, but we are about to close" would have sufficed. Instead, they treated me as if I were demanding service, despite the fact that I hadn’t even had a moment to speak before being turned away. This encounter left a bad impression on me, and as a result, I haven't returned, especially since there are now better pho options near Village Peaks. It baffles me why they would assume the worst when I hadn’t even spoken. Overall, the food was decent based on my past experiences, but their pho wasn’t as flavorful compared to other places I’ve tried in the area. The chow fun was quite nice, but not worth a special visit. I understand they are trying to run a business, but the point of this review is to urge the owners to treat their customers better and consistently. They've been friendly on previous visits, but this particular incident overshadowed all of those positive experiences. I'm glad they managed to survive through the pandemic, but I hope they can improve their service, as I won’t be returning as a customer.
