Vocella's - Longford
Vocella's
Description

Feedback
I prefer my ice cream in a cone, so I ordered two scoops. Unfortunately, the first scoop barely fit on the cone, and the second looked like some kind of joke. This wasn’t meant to offend the server (please see the attached photo for reference). For a similar price and flavor, I’d rather go to Mammy Johnston’s in Strandhill, where people not only enjoy the view but are willing to queue for their famous ice cream. Some might say, “It’s just ice cream, don’t be so harsh,” but this is unacceptable. Staff should be properly trained on how to serve ice cream in cones with the correct portions. What I got did not match the price or expected amount and felt almost like a ripoff. I regret not asking for my scoops in a cup instead, especially after seeing my husband’s portion—I should have been smarter and done the same. I stayed polite and didn’t complain at the time, which is why I’m leaving this feedback now (apologies for the emotional tone). Beyond ethical and aesthetic concerns, ice cream is meant to be enjoyed, and this experience deprived me of that. Visually, it looked terrible and almost mocking. I’d rather drive an hour to Galway or Strandhill for a better experience. Even inexpensive ice cream from Longford corners hasn’t disappointed me this much. I wouldn’t recommend this place. The staff need proper training on serving ice cream cones—it’s not a difficult task. The ice cream itself is good quality, but the cone was very dry.
This was my second visit to Vocella's recently. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant has a lovely, cozy atmosphere. However, like another reviewer mentioned, the chicken mushroom tagliatelle wasn’t great — the chicken was quite tough and lacking in flavor. On the plus side, the pasta was delicious and the portion size was generous, especially for a lunch menu. We will definitely return, but I’ll probably avoid the chicken next time.
Just enjoyed an incredible takeout meal from Vocella’s for Mother’s Day. The food was outstanding, and we were all completely satisfied. Highly recommend!
What a random, fantastic find! In the middle of Longford County sits the most delicious Italian restaurant. Fresh and yummy. The desserts were also incredible. Lovely staff a clean restaurant. It was so good the first night, we went back the 2nd night. Bummed we couldn't have gone back another evening!
Stumbled upon this restaurant yesterday in a dull, dreary wet Longford. Got a spaghetti bolognaise. Wow! Straight out of Italy. Absolutely delicious. With food as tasty as this who really cares about the bad weather outside. Nice touch, the little bowl of parmesan cheese before hand. May you always continue to cook and serve this genuine authentic taste of Italy. Longford is definitely lucky to have such an eatery. Will be back! Catherine
