Tummy luck. The lunch break was big enough to take the rests home for dinner. Nice service, but note. Not disabled friendly as it downstairs and the. loos are also another flight down.
Out of past history, loyalty and service I am giving a five but regrettably would prefer quality over quantity and recent visit could improve on that
I’ve been craving spaghetti and haven’t dined here in years! I have many of visits in London for appointments so though it was time to have done heaps of pasta It was very slow and we were the only diners. I literally had to yell out to get done attention to let someone know I was even in the building. (Anyone dining here knows it’s quite dark inside and very steep with stairs) Once the server knew we were there sitting she was very kind, pasta was served and she checked on us a couple of times. I noticed right away the sauces tasted a bit different but we packed up leftovers and drove home. The next afternoon I opened the container to mine and the pasta literally was spotted everywhere with mold. Mold! I have never ever in my life taken home pasta/ sauce from any restaurant and opened it back up it’s full of mold. It was green, white and specks everywhere. I’m only posting this because it means the kitchen had it already contained and started somewhere where it was stored. I obviously threw it out. I tried to call, answering machine. Tried again same thing. 3rd attempt no reply. I most definitely would give someone another try but do not ever ever serve 2-3 day old tomato sauce!!
I can't believe this was my first visit. Two thumbs up (one of me, and one of my 14-year-old grandchild / Pasta connoisseur). The staff was very friendly and helpful as it was our first visit. They even gave us samplers of the sauces when we couldn't decide between red and Alfredo. I had Veggiesauce (Linguini with fresh vegetables) and she chose alfredo linguini. We could only eat half of our portions, so you know what will be in our lunch boxes tomorrow! Sooo tasty, hot, fresh, tasty. Well, the decor: what a great place to eat comfort. It was like an explosion from the past, with semi-private stands, the walls and ceiling lit with tchotchke, antiques and odd ball bric-a-brac in a restaurant that is below the street surface. I didn't try cocktails, but I saw some good looking widows on another table. Prices were comparable to other pasta compounds, good value for money spent.
I came here with my grandson and the restaurant had absolutely no AC or fans. My child had to drink his whole soda to stay moderately cool! When the waitress came, we both ordered a chicken parm and waited what felt like an incredibly long time until it arrives. When we waited, my grandson went down to the bathroom and felt insecure and appalled, and when he showed up, he told me that there was no water in the men's bathroom sink! The food was a huge pile of spaghetti with a small thing of chicken, where the bread was coarse and soft, and tasted like the frozen chicken we eat in our microwave dinner a ton. My grandson asked if it was frozen, and the server wasn't even sure before it admits it was. Overall, very dissapointed. Good atmosphere and friendly servers, but bad food, parking, air conditioning and more.
