Archie's Seafood Restaurant - London

Visiting my sister in London when she mentioned two restaurants we could go to and told me to pick. Having a very rare craving for fish and chips, I picked Archie 's (I am not really fussy about fish) I don 't mind cod because it is very mild tasting, so I ordered the single piece battered cod with fries. The portions were huge. The piece of fish was about 4 x 4 and a good 1 1/2 thick. The rest of the plate was covered by an inch or more of fries! Being old and not able to eat like I did several years ago, I knew I would be taking some home. (There was enough for two good meals). The batter was very thick and extra crunchy The fish tasted great and was nice and flaky and cooked just right (it gets chewy if over cooked). The fries were fresh cut and not those awful coated FrankenfrIes (which takes a good imagination to think they taste like real potatoes. The batter alone was so good I could eat a plate of it alone. We had a terrific waitress, and when I told her how Long John Silver 's would, upon request, give you a little fry dish filled with little blobs of deep fried batter they called crunchers , she liked it so much I thought she was going to go into the kitchen and make some! It was a great dining experience and the best fish I have ever eaten. By the way, I reheated the leftovers in an air fryer and they were still crispy and delicious even though I accidentally overcooked it a bit and it was a little chewy. Hoping to go every time in London, only will split order with sister or mother there is that much on your plate!

Ordered the Gone Fishing Wrap for delivery with a side of onion rings (only half of them shown in pic) . I couldn’t believe the portion size! It also came with a huge side of creamy delicious coleslaw! Their fish is so great. They definitely do it right!

Any restaurant that has more than two types of fish and charges almost equal prices for both is not a place I want to eat at.

I do not give a very good rating at last visit a few years ago. This visit with family was completely different. Our meals, fishing all ages were very good. Speaking for myself, the Greek salad, haddock and baked potato were all delicious.

Its my go to fish and chip shop in london ont Excellent batter on fish and chips are great ..i ve been going here for 15 yrs and would not go any where else for fish n chips .....have a choice of regular batter or light batter.....their nay be better in town but i am very happy with this choice..
