Very friendly place with delicious food. This place offers authentic home cooked Hungarian food. The cabbage rolls were amazing but so was everything we ordered. Highly reccomend to everyone in that area. Too bad its in the countryside, otherwise more people in London (including us) would come to eat here more often. View all feedback.
The Hungarian Goulash soup is the best along with the pork snitzel. This place is very clean and tidy and the service is great
From the moment you enter this quaint restaurant, you are greeted with a smile and feel immediately at home!... The food is amazing...best Goulash Soup I have ever had. I would highly recommend the Chicken Paprikash as well.... it is a generous serving of quarter Chicken, the pinched pasta is a nice change from traditional potatoes but it is the sauce that makes this dish so incredible.... perfectly spiced in traditional Hungarian style.....you can definitely taste the difference local, fresh vegetables and meats make in every dish! The restaurant is not fancy but very quaint, clean and the service is fantastic. Located beside Miller's Berry Farm just west of Lambeth....it is well worth the short drive! I can't wait to go back to try something new!
Located beside Miller's Berry Farm on Longwoods Rd west Lambeth area, we decided to try this authentic hungarian restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is basic but clean and welcoming. After we ordered the wine we were presented with bread and butter. We decided to share the Wooden Platter for two for $34.00. It was worth every penny. The platter is bountiful with pork schnitzel, chicken, sausage and ribs. We are not vegetable people so we asked to substitute purple sauerkraut. My husband was brought up in a Polish family and said the food served here is amazing. No room for dessert, maybe next time. The owner explained the name of this restaurant.Aranka is a popular, traditional Hungarian female name that translates to Goldie in English. It is also the name of my lovely wife of 29 years, Aranka Komaromi, who is known for her excellent cooking skills, and admired by all who've had the pleasure of trying her dishes.Csárda (pronounced: charda) is a tavern on the outskirts of town or in the country, usually with a shed for horses and carriages. The earliest written mention of a Csárda is from 1755. They were built along roads leading to major fairs, about half to one day’s journey. Among these the most famous were located on county borders, so the Betyár’s (highwaymen or social bandits of the 18-19th centuries) could get away from police officers. They were mostly named by their location, owner, or after a famous event that may have occurred in the vicinity.Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 11:30 am - 9:00pmFriday and Saturday open 11:30am - 10 pmSunday 9:00am - 9:00pm** Closed Mondays
This unassuming, but comfortable restaurant serves first class Hungarian cuisine. The goulash is particularly fine and compares favorably with the best I have had in Hungary. The restaurant is clean, the service good and the food excellent. Hungarian wines are available. Highly recommended.
On the northern fringe of London, just west of Lambeth, lies the Hungarian restaurant, Aranka. The wife and I stopped in for supper and were not disappointed. The Hungarian Goulash is to die for and the service was excellent. We will definitely be going back.
